OCTOBER 2005

NEW RELEASE - Beyond All Horizons on CD. Available now
"THAT WHICH IS BEYOND NAMES AND FORMS. NO TONGUE HAS SOILED IT. NO WORD HAS REACHED IT".
It took almost two years to complete, but we did it. BEYOND ALL HORIZONS is a collection of compositions reflecting the inward journey we make when we hear hear the call to adventure, to experincing the "outer reaches of inner space". In our world of today, there are no more Horizons, barriers are being broken down and bridges are being bulit.

The new recording project JAAFAR has been working on consists of studio recordings that have been on the table since the summer of 2003, and the summer of 2004, and now the winter of 2005. These earlier tracks were recorded at GROOVY CELLAR studio. In 2004, JAAFAR was able to obtain some recording gear and began what became an 8 month session of experimentation and new musical experiences. This collection also contains a few tracks recorded from some of the many trips to Egypt over the last year and half. These were recorded at a studio in Mohandiseen Cairo, Egypt, engineered by our good friend Tamer Said.

Alot of the ideas for this new recording emerged from the writings and lectures of Master Mythologost JOSEPH CAMPBELL. He has helped us come to understand and recognize that we all share the same common spiritual quest, but though the paths may appear different, they all lead to the same place.....you.

This album is a FUSION of Middle Eastern Jazz and Arabic Funk.
Naji Hilal - oud, ney, qunun
Vishnu Gangadharan - keys
Antonio Arce - drums
Peter Merkx - tabla, darbuka, cahon
Chris Conley - djembe
Guhl - electric doubleneck guitar, oud, oudtar, khanjera, duuf
Robert Troy Cole - bass

featuring: Soner Cicek, Hamit Golbasi, jamal sinno, Mohammed Atef, Lars Burka, Andy Mckee
